The Influence of People and Relationships

Mark Zuckerberg once said:

“People influence people. Nothing influences people more than a recommendation from a trusted friend. A trusted referral influences people more than the best broadcast message. A trusted referral is the Holy Grail of advertising.”  

I couldn’t agree more with this intelligent young man. Think about how much you trust the important people in your life and how strongly their opinions influence you. Consider the following:

Brides read forums, talk to friends and family members before they make wedding arrangements

  • Mothers-to-be research and talk to everyone they know about birth plans, hospitals, doctors, etc.
  • Landlords will request information from other landlords before a new tenant is accepted
  • Hiring managers request a list of references prior to hiring new employees
  • This is why relationships, in business and in our personal lives, are so important. Once you find colleagues, friends or partners that you can rely on and trust, you develop loyalty and both parties reap the benefits.
